SPIRIT MEAT JULY 26TH 2020 - PRACTICING QUIETNESS BEFORE GOD - PSALMS 46:8-11

One of the things we can do that will enhance our sensitivity to the voice of the Holy Spirit is the ability to maintain an inner quietness. Get quiet before God. Do not give in to a life of running up and down, the noise, the busyness of here and there, going to and fro in the earth. Busyness does not necessarily mean progress.

“For thus saith the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not”. Isaiah 30:15

As seen in this verse, in rest you shall be saved; in quietness shall be your strength. You can do more in 3 hours of staying quiet before God than 3 days of running up and down.

“For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness”. Psalms 84:10

Everyone should develop his own ability to be quiet with God in his own peculiar way. That ability to get our minds to be quiet is something that we master differently from each other, but everybody will require a training, against the flesh, to be quiet.  For some people, they may have to leave town, maybe go to a mountaintop for 3 days. For others, it may require 40 days fasting and waiting upon the Lord.

In our church, the people are taught to practice the Principle of ‘One’  to keep a special time before God - 1 hour in a day; 1 day in a week; 1 weekend in a month and 1 week in a year. Develop a similar structure to develop quietness and be still inside before God, even if everything else is breaking into pieces around you.

PRAYER: Father, I maintain a rest and confidence in You. I will be still and quiet in my spirit as I depend on You to show Yourself as God in my life. Amen

BIBLE IN A YEAR: 2 Chronicles 17:1-18:34, Romans 9:25-10:13, Psalm 20:1-9, Proverbs 20:2-3
